Amy Barnhart – Lead Forest Technician
As the Lead Forest Technician for Lomakatsi, Amy works alongside our work crews conducting layout and marking of restoration-focused commercial thinning projects, interprets ecologically-based silvicultural prescriptions, supervises and train forest technicians, and performs restoration project inspection.
Currently Amy spends most of her time in the field working as a Data Manager as part of the Master Stewardship Agreement with the Klamath Tribes on the Fremont-Winema National Forest, which Lomakatsi is also a principal partner on alongside the Nature Conservancy.
Amy grew up in Massachusetts and spent a lot of time hiking in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She moved to Oregon in 2009 to work for the Forest Service as part of an Americorps internship program, and has since worked for the Forest Service and OSU in the field of forestry research, and on reforestation operations in NW Oregon for private timber firms.
Outside of works hours Amy enjoys hiking, backpacking, skiing, mountain and road biking, trail running, gardening, reading, mushroom foraging, fishing and chasing her chickens around the yard.
