A collaborative, strategic, ecological fuels reduction program to mitigate wildfire risk around town will begin the first week of April 2023. Jacksonville residents may hear chainsaw noise, and we thank you for your patience and understanding as we implement this important work to reduce wildfire risk to the community and ecosystem. Operations will continue on and off over the next few months.

The City of Jacksonville, Jacksonville Fire Department, Jacksonville Woodlands Association, and the local FireWise communities have joined forces with non-profit Lomakatsi Restoration Project and the Rogue Forest Partners on fuels reduction around Jacksonville. Together, we’ve raised over $1.5 million to assist the community in reducing wildfire risk through ecological thinning and prescribed fire on private and City lands.
