Earth Day on the Rocks
Sunday April 22, Medford, 9 a.m. – noon
Join us this Earth Day for a hike on Lower Table Rock during the height of wildflower season. Learn about the oaks that are sprouting their spring leaves, and marvel at the stunning array of wildflowers and the views across to Mt. McLoughlin and the Cascades. The hike will be guided by Lomakatsi’s restoration ecologists and cultural specialists and will feature information about the unique ecosystem and the ecological and cultural importance of the Table Rocks.
Lomakatsi has been working to restore the oak woodlands of Table Rocks for the past three years, in partnership with federal and state agencies, Native American tribes, and conservation organizations. Oak ecosystems exist in only a small percentage of their historic distribution, meaning the the oak woodlands at the iconic Table Rocks provide important habitat and food for wildlife. We hope you can join us to explore and learn more about this special place.
