Our riparian crew has been busy with summer maintenance at four different sites across the Rogue Valley, from fixing irrigation and hand-watering to weeding and removing hazard trees. Their goal is to keep plantings from the past two years alive and maintained—balancing vegetation fuels management and wildlife habitat, such as by removing invasive species, or slowing water flow by placing downed wood in the stream to support cool salmon habitat. As Lomakatsi Riparian Field Technician Rhiannon Ahimsa said, the riparian crew rejuvenates the land by “fighting nature with nature.”

We appreciate our partnership with The Freshwater Trust, City of Ashland Oregon, and other partners involved in our joint efforts to restore riparian habitat and keep stream temperatures cool on behalf of salmon and native aquatic species!
