A big thank you to Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest Supervisor Merv George for visiting with participants of Lomakatsi’s Tribal Youth Ecological Forestry Training Program recently at the Lomakatsi office. Supervisor George, an enrolled member of the Hoopa Valley Tribe, shared about his experience growing up as a Native American and navigating career pathways in natural resources. Tribal crew members, who will be working on fuels reduction and forest restoration projects within the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, as part of this program funded by Oregon Conservation Corps, shared about their experience in the program so far.

We’re grateful to Supervisor George and our long-standing partnership with the US Forest Service U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest in large-scale forest restoration stewardship projects and their instrumental role in Lomakatsi’s Youth Ecological Training & Employment Program for over a decade.
