We’re grateful to share that our long-time partnership with the U.S. Forest Service has been highlighted through a video and accompanying story about Lomakatsi’s Tribal Youth Ecological Forestry Training Program, now part of the Indian Youth Service Corps initiated by Secretary of State Deb Haaland. Featured in the video are some of the awesome members of our inter-tribal crew and Lomakatsi leadership.
This year, we signed an inter-regional Indian Youth Service Corps agreement with the US Forest Service Pacific Southwest and Pacific Northwest Regions that will allow us to expand our training program model to tribal and multicultural youth ages 18-30, and veterans up to age 35, across California, Oregon, and Washington. We thank our partners at the U.S. Forest Service- Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest who helped refine this program over the years, including through the The Ashland Forest Resiliency Stewardship Project.
Lomakatsi is happy to be operating this program in partnership with multiple National Forests across Oregon and California over the next year.
