Prescription for Safety Project – Near Ruch, Applegate Valley
Lomakatsi crews have received clearance from Oregon Department of Forestry to conduct controlled pile burning on private land in the Applegate Valley outside of Ruch near Griffin Lane and Humbug Creek Road. Up to 11 acres will be completed today. Operations in the area will continue throughout this week as conditions allow.
This effort is part of the Prescription for Safety Project, a collaboration between Southern Oregon Forest Restoration Collaborative, OSU Extension, Klamath Siskiyou Wildlands, Lomakatsi, Applegate Watershed & Partnership Council, the Bureau of Land Management and Oregon Department of Forestry to help landowners complete critical work that will contribute to the safety of the community by providing safe evacuation routes, pretreated fire lines, and anchors for prescribed burns.
