Forest Worker Advocate

Raúl works closely with Lomakatsi’s Promotora Program team to help improve working conditions and awareness of workers’ rights for forest workers throughout the Rogue Valley. He serves as a liaison with forest workers and their families, helping to identify their health and safety priorities and working with the Lomakatsi team to develop culturally and linguistically sensitive educational materials on these topics. Raúl comes from a long line of forest workers who were born in Mexico and emigrated to the United States—including his father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His intimate knowledge of the mistreatment and inequities forest workers face on a daily basis inspires his work developing and providing trainings to help meet the needs of these important and valued community members.
