Daranda Hinkey – Tribal Partnership Associate

As a Tribal Partnerships Associate, Daranda plays a key role in the development of Lomakatsi’s Tribal Partnerships Program. She provides cultural understanding and serves as an important liaison between tribal communities and Lomakatsi.

Daranda  graduated in June 2020 from Southern Oregon University with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy. During her senior year, she completed a semester-long internship with Lomakatsi’s Tribal Partnerships Program, which included a key role in planning the 2020 Fire and Climate Summit webinar on Aboriginal Fire.

Daranda is an enrolled member of the Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe located on the Nevada-Oregon border, and grew up in Reno, Nevada, which helped inspire her passion for the outdoors. In the summer of 2019, Daranda hosted her very own native youth basketball camp on her reservation in Fort McDermitt, Nevada. She enjoys working with indigenous youth and hopes to continue this basketball outlet for her tribal community.

Daranda is excited to join the Lomakatsi team and help expand partnerships with Tribal Nations and tribal communities throughout Oregon and Northern California.
