Sequoia Ahimsa, Restoration Technician & Youth Crew Leader
As a Youth Crew Leader, Sequoia helps manage Lomakatsi’s youth training initiatives, including the Ecological Workforce Training Program, and also works on a range of forest and watershed restoration efforts.
Specializing in riparian restoration and ecological workforce training, Sequoia works with various age groups, sharing holistic conservation techniques and the basics of restoration forestry. Sequoia also assists in program development and outreach, and served as a Crew Leader for the 2019 Ashland Watershed Youth Training and Employment Program.
Growing up in Southern Oregon, Sequoia developed a love for the outdoors at a young age. She participated in Lomakatsi’s Restoration Ecology Education program from elementary through high school in Ashland. Sequoia then worked for several years for Walama Restoration Project, a non-profit ecological restoration and conservation organization in Eugene, Oregon. There, she gained skills and experience in riparian restoration, surveying, native seed a collection, and holistic ecological fuels management.
Sequoia looks forward to continuing to build her skillsets with Lomakatsi, as she continues to serve the forests and communities of Southern Oregon and beyond.
