Lomakatsi’s two active crews in our Youth Ecological Forestry Training & Employment Program—one comprised of inter-tribal members from the Chiloquin community and the other from around Jackson County—have worked side-by-side in recent weeks on fuels reduction, vegetation management, and post-fire riparian restoration, led by Restoration Technician Manager Ryan Puckett, Tribal Initiatives Project Manager George Swartzlender, Restoration Technician and Crew Leader Rhiannon Ahimsa, and Program Crew Leader Antonio Lopez.

Last week we were honored to host a meet-up with both crews and fellow Oregon Conservation Corps funding recipient Northwest Youth Corps to network, share words of inspiration and tips of the forestry trade, and celebrate the hard work of each team to improve forest health and reduce wildfire risk to communities. Thank you to Oregon Youth Works for supporting these awesome crews!
