Adam Lohman

Ecological Forester & Policy Analyst

As the Ecological Forester and Policy Analyst, Adam assists with forest restoration planning, monitoring, and geospatial analysis. He researches laws and policies, develops recommendations, and interfaces with government officials and strategic partners to help craft legislation and achieve collaborative goals.

Adam joined the Lomakatsi team in March 2024 with a background in forestry, policy, and environmental management. He graduated from Duke University with dual Master’s Degrees in Forestry and Environmental Management with a concentration in Environmental Economics and Policy. He focused his studies on wildfire, restoration forestry, and environmental policy. He previously worked in the Oregon Legislature as a Legislative Aide and Communications Director and as the Environmental Caucus Fellow. In these roles, he developed legislation on wildfire mitigation, forestry, and renewable energy. He spent a summer working for the U.S. Forest Service on the Lassen National Forest and conducted research with the Public Lands Policy Group of Colorado State University.

In his role with Lomakatsi, Adam translates science into effective policy and management decisions. He strives to find collaborative, science-based, and sustainable solutions that benefit everyone. As a life-long resident of southern Oregon, Adam’s favorite parts of the job are exploring the woods and working with his friends and neighbors to steward and protect our natural resources and communities. Outside of work, Adam is an avid baker, writer, and hiker.
