Allayana Martinez-Darrow

Communications Coordinator

As Communications Coordinator, Allayana is part of Lomakatsi’s communications team, working to document and spread awareness of our work in the forests and watersheds of Oregon and northern California and improve community understanding of our interconnectedness with the landscapes we call home.

Allayana joined the Lomakatsi team in March 2022 with a background in journalism, public relations, and strategic communications. She previously reported on staff for the Medford Mail Tribune in Oregon and The Sheridan Press in Wyoming, and interned with the City of Bellingham and Whatcom Land Trust while obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Journalism-Public Relations at Western Washington University.

In her role, Allayana strives to connect with others through shared interests in the health and sustainability of our natural resources and support Lomakatsi technicians and crews by sharing the benefits of their work with the community. Her favorite part of her job is writing stories about restoration projects and learning from the many partners, specialists, and tribal citizens we work with about how to responsibly steward the land. Outside of work, Allayana enjoys creating art and spending time with family.
