As Communications Associate, Amy works with our communications team to write, edit, and publish print and digital materials in support of Lomakatsi’s programs and partnerships, applying her knowledge of natural resources and storytelling to inform and inspire collaborative efforts to improve community and ecosystem health.
Amy joined the Lomakatsi team in April 2022, building on more than a decade of experience with science and writing, from seasonal vegetation management in the Sierra Nevada to editing for university publications and teaching academic writing to first-generation college students. She holds a Master of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Idaho.
As a member of Lomakatsi’s communications team, Amy is grateful to be part of a nonprofit with a strong, holistic social, cultural, and scientific mission. She especially values hearing from crew members about their roles and motivations, and she strives to amplify their stories to communicate the rich, nuanced, growing field of ecological restoration in the region.
Outside of work, Amy enjoys hiking, cycling, botanizing, reading, crafting, playing with her niece and her cat, and exploring her new southern Oregon home.
