Jamie Engle

Operations Director

As Operations Director, Jamie assists the leadership team in the successful growth of the organization, and provides leadership, management, and vision to ensure proper administrative, human resources, and reporting procedures.

Jamie is a fluent Spanish speaker and serves as an interpreter for Lomakatsi’s Spanish-speaking workforce. She is fully committed to advocating for improved working conditions for forest workers in the broader Latino community by overseeing the Promotora program and furthering its mission to provide outreach and education about health, safety, and workers’ rights.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and International Studies from Southern Oregon State College (Southern Oregon University) and joined the Lomakatsi team in July 2022 with 10 years of experience in Human Resources and 20 years as a System Specialist. During the bulk of her career at Harry & David in Medford, she served in various capacities within HR, Distribution Systems, and Transportation, primarily as a liaison between operations and IT in the development of system and reporting requirements, testing, and implementation.

In her role with Lomakatsi, Jamie engages with the entire staff regarding day-to-day activities to support efficient operational workflow and serves as a bridge with business partners in Operations, Finance, and Human Resources. Standardizing systems and procedures, streamlining data tracking systems to bolster operational efficiency, budgeting, reporting, scheduling, and prioritizing are within her scope of work.

Jamie most values the opportunity to work in support of forest health, which impacts everyone, and to advocate for underserved immigrant forest workers in southern Oregon. She has roots in Ashland and the Illinois Valley and raised two children in Ashland. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, bicycling and skiing.
