Jordan Anderson

Ecological Monitoring Associate

As a part of Lomakatsi’s ecological monitoring team, Jordan works closely with the Restoration Ecologist to build implementation guides, design wildlife monitoring guidelines, curate and analyze monitoring data, and report data from current projects. He collaborates with Lomakatsi’s monitoring crew and private and governmental partners to help implement the best conservation practices.

Raised on the Oregon Coast near Astoria, Jordan moved to Ashland in 2008 to attend Southern Oregon University, where he obtained a B.S. in biology and B.S. in Photojournalism. He worked in Ashland as a freelance photographer and reporter before moving to northern Washington to work for the U.S. Geological Survey as a wildlife research technician.

Over the course of his career in wildlife conservation and management, Jordan has studied American pika, hoary marmot, coho salmon and marbled murrelets, and worked for a variety of agency and nonprofit organizations. He has done mark-and-capture work with migrating raptor species in the Wyoming Tetons, riparian habitat monitoring in the Oregon Coast and Klamath-Siskiyous ranges with the Bureau of Land Management, salmon monitoring for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and biological surveys in coordination with the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians.

Jordan has taught conservation biology to middle school students through Sierra Nevada Journeys and the Portland Museum of Science and Industry. In his free time, he enjoys hiking with his dogs and girlfriend around the Rogue Valley and out in the Cascades.
