Kaiya Spain
Riparian Restoration Technician
Kaiya specializes in riparian restoration and supports a wide range of other restoration activities. When she’s not in the field, Kaiya also assists Lomakatsi’s finance and administrative teams, and helps with outreach.
Growing up in Ashland, Kaiya participated in Lomakatsi’s Restoration Ecology Education throughout her education and completed the Ashland Watershed Youth Training and Employment Program. After high school Kaiya studied environmental sciences, communications and social studies, earning an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer degree at Rogue Community College. She also obtained an Adobe Technicians Certificate to further her passion for art.
Since joining Lomakatsi, Kaiya has been honing her skills at site preparation, planting, and maintaining native tree and shrub installations along waterways throughout Oregon and Northern California.
In her off time, Kaiya enjoys making art, getting outside and hiking with her dogs, skateboarding, and practicing with aerial silks or trapeze—anything that keeps her interest and is challenging.
