Leah Parazoo

Tribal Partnerships Associate

As Tribal Partnerships Associate, Leah Parazoo engages with tribal communities and youth in the Klamath Basin to implement training opportunities, wraparound services, monitoring and fieldwork, and promote the healing and restoration of the land.

Leah is a descendant of The Klamath Tribes and an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. She joined the Lomakatsi team in November 2020 as a tribal monitor with a background as a Cultural Resource Technician, and an Archaeology Field School certification from the University of Oregon obtained in 2019. She became a Lomakatsi tribal advocate in January 2021.

Leah supports Lomakatsi’s youth training programs and was a crew leader for the Tribal Youth Ecological Forestry Training Program in summer 2021. During the pandemic, she provided wraparound services to tribal members in quarantine in Klamath County in collaboration with the Oregon Health Authority.

Leah strives to serve and support her community by connecting people with resources to address needs related to food insecurity, mental health and substance use, and to strengthen economic vitality. She works with the Red Road to Wellbriety program to encourage healthy community development and healing from alcohol and substances, co-occurring disorders and intergenerational trauma, using culturally based principles.

Outside of work, Leah spends time with her three sons and three grandchildren, and enjoys beading and dancing at Pow Wows.
