Nelonna Mortimer

Tribal Crew Member

As a member of the Tribal Ecological Forestry Crew, Nelonna restores forest health by reducing hazardous fuels through ecological thinning, hand piling, and controlled burning, and participates in specialized ecocultural restoration projects. She is an enrolled member of The Klamath Tribes and descendant of the Modoc, northern Paiute, and Washoe peoples.

Nelonna joined the Lomakatsi team in October 2022 and earned certifications through the 2022-2023 Tribal Ecological Forestry Training Program as a Firefighter Type 2, including Wildland Fire Chainsaw operation, First Aid/CPR, and Wildland Fire Incident Qualifications, and Cultural Monitoring.

Nelonna enjoys the variety of work that supports ecological restoration—from the uplands to the streams, and into communities—being active, and especially bringing fun to the workday. She is drawn to the sky and all the elements within it.
