Restoration Technician/Youth Crew Leader
As Restoration Technician, Rhiannon specializes in riparian restoration and vegetation management. She is an alumna of Lomakatsi’s first Ashland Watershed Youth Training & Employment program (2012) and has since worked in trail maintenance, plant propagation and seed collection, and as a sawyer, including for Walama Restoration Project, a Eugene-based nonprofit that focused on planting native species in critical areas. She rejoined the Lomakatsi team in April 2022.
As Crew Leader for Lomakatsi’s youth and young adult training programs, Rhiannon restores forest health by reducing hazardous fuels through ecological thinning, hand piling, and controlled burning, and provides crew direction and mentorship for forestry and riparian training crews as they work to reduce the risk of wildfire to the ecosystem and communities. She is certified in Wildland Fire Chainsaw operation, First Aid/CPR, and Wildland Fire Incident Qualifications.
In her position with Lomakatsi, Rhiannon most enjoys restoring the land, working with good fire, and learning more about how to protect our forests and sustain livelihoods for future generations.
