Sean Voorhes
Fire Operations Manager
Sean Voorhes brings over 30 years’ experience in natural resources—including prescribed and wildland fire—in both agency and private sectors. At Lomakatsi, Sean is responsible for planning and overseeing Lomakatsi’s prescribed fire operations and coordinating the organization’s wildland fire hand and engine crews. He plays a key role in developing collaborative prescribed fire operations plans, ensuring and advancing staff training, and supporting ecological and fire behavior monitoring.
Sean worked for the US Forest Service for 20 years, serving on the Goosenest Ranger District of the Klamath National Forest in Oregon and the Heppner Ranger District of the Umatilla National Forest in Oregon. In these positions he served as a Supervisory Forestry Technician, responsible for coordinating a wide range of hazardous fuels reduction and prescribed fire operations, as well as providing leadership in wildland fire suppression efforts.
Sean has also worked for over 10 years in the private sector, having owned and operated a fuels management company based in Idaho, and working as a Lead Instructor for the National Firefighter Training and Carding Association based in Oregon. Most recently, Sean served as the Training Coordinator and Single Resource Boss for Bratcher Services LLC, where he was responsible for overseeing the organization’s training programs through the National Wildfire Coordinating Group as well as managing an engine crew in wildland fire incident response.
Sean holds multiple certifications from the National Wildfire Coordinating Group, including Burn Boss (BX3), and is certified to provide many training courses related to wildland fire and ecological restoration.
