Walker Woodman
Restoration Forestry Technician
As Restoration Forestry Technician, Walker Woodman works with our technician team on the ground to monitor forest stands and prepare units for fuels reduction activities by developing boundaries and installing retention areas for wildlife habitat and priority trees.
Walker gathers the pre-implementation data used by Lomakatsi’s professional staff to develop procedures for cut, pile and burn treatments in each unit’s landscape. He surveys stands to document impacts such as new species composition, completed fuels reduction and forest composition at various intervals.
Raised in Talent, Walker is dedicated to improving the health, fire resilience and sustainability of landscapes across the Rogue Valley and Klamath Basin. He holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, and also brings experience in hydrology and GIS.
With a background as a Forestry Technician for the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service and timber presale specialist with the U.S. Forest Service, he joined the Lomakatsi team in February 2022. The best part of his job is being out in the woods every day, and Walker’s favorite post-work activity is sharing dinnertime with family.
